Reynard the Fox Collection

There have been many foxes in my life. Some of them urban and some more urbane and all of them have been devastatingly charming. But as to Reynard himself, well he’s a bit special. Reynard is cunning, Reynard is clever. Reynard is a foxy old fox who was originally based on the most cunning and clever of all old foxes, my late father – Wing Co. Ken Wallis. All those that had the very great pleasure of knowing him, will recognise the glint of devilment and the whirring of ingenious inner-cogs.

But Reynard has a long and literary lineage. He takes his name from the medieval French fable, Le Roman de Reynard. These satirical tales focus on his mischievous exploits and the hypocrisy of the royal court and clergy.

Reynard is at the very dark heart of Filthy Beasts and represents that desire within all our kind, to live completely on our own terms, gnawing on the bones of life and sucking out every last juicy bit of marrow.
